Citizenship

As a permanent resident with a minimum of three years’ residence in Canada within the last five years, you may be eligible to pursue Canadian citizenship.

An important point to note is that time spent residing in Canada under valid temporary status could be counted toward the citizenship requirements, for a maximum of one year.

This achievement unlocks a host of privileges, including the right to participate in political elections and the ability to apply for a Canadian passport, to name a few. To meet the necessary criteria, you must demonstrate a proficiency level of 4 in the Canadian Language Benchmark for both speaking and listening in English or French. Additionally, if you’re aged between 18 and 54, you’ll be expected to showcase your knowledge of Canada.
